Journalists who have worked for politicians: Where is Andrew Landeryou?

Crikey yesterday published a list in its daily e-newsletter titled "Journalists who have worked for politicians".

Lots of names. Lots of memories.

But oh dear! Where is Andrew Landeryou?

The list was alphabetical. Where Landeryou's name should have been - well, it wasn't there.

Hugo Kelly: The Age, Brian Howe, Richard Ellis, Crikey
Christian Kerr: Christopher Pyne, Robert Hill, Amanda Vanstone, John Olsen, Balderstone Hornibrook, Crikey
Rebecca Lang: Herald Sun, AAP, Phil Koperberg, Bob Debus (NSW ALP), Sydney Express, Sun-Herald, North Shore Times, Sunday Telegraph
Michael Magazanik: The Age, Duncan Kerr, Australian, ABC Television, Victorian Parliament
Terry Maher: AFR, Alan Stockdale, Melbourne Times, Zeitgeist, Carlton PR firm, Crikey (occasionally)
Stephen Mayne: Herald Sun, Age, Jeff Kennett, Herald Sun, Daily Telegraph, Fin Review, The Eye, Crikey
John McCarthy: Nick Greiner, Courier-Mail

Andrew Landeryou worked for his father Bill between 1989-91.

But perhaps we missed something? What could that be? Oh, yes, the key word is 'journalist'. Our mistake! Landeryou isn't one.

25 Truth On Comments:

Andrew wasn't mentioned in Crikey because Stephen Mayne doesn't like him, not because he isn't a journo.

The exclusion of Landeryou is purely personal, not professional.

Catt - as usual your comment is RUBBISH!

Landeryou is not a journalist
He is not a Walkley blog award winner
He is most cetainly not professional

and if anyone around here knows how to let things get personal it Andy

Brother Other is not a journalist's arsehole.
Journalists are supposed to be impartial and without bias, and are not allowed to editorialise.
Andy is all of those.
Andy is a commentator - NOT a journalist.

Landeryou only offers malicious comment not balanced reporting so he is not a journalist.

A question.

What I have never understood is if Landeryou hates Fairfax especially The Age so much, why does he so often link to the paper on so many issues?

Is the some hypocrisy there?

YES

There has been an 8.2 per cent drop in the last two weeks in the number of quiz respondents on this blog who believe you can catch AIDS from a dunny seat in the National Library. The intelligence of readers of this blog must be increasing. Welcome new readers.

Here is a theory.

Landeryou is joke.

Cait Catt - well done for promoting the poll

it shows how stupid you are; but also there is massive public support for the National Library to delete Landeryou's blog from its archive

So what exactly did Landeryou do when he was working for his dad?

Was it cleaning out the toilets, emptying the rubbish bins?

Anonymous said...

Stop knocking dunny cleaners. It is an honourable occupation.

Anonymous said...

Catt, I wasn't knocking dunny cleaners at all.

Was just trying to aks a question, and put Landeryou's career experience into perspective.

Its that sort of experience that might explain his success with MUSU, IQ Corp etc etc

100% AGREE

This is funny. He claims that his news about the new Crikey editor is world exclusive, but I read it on Crikey first.

For someone who hates Crieky and The Age so much, it's surprising much of his blog depends on those two publications.

Its call free-riding! something Landeryou has been very good at, then very poor at, see MUSU then IQ Corp, and now his blog

Free riding - and free advertising for The Age and Crikey!

Good point 1.16.48

I read somewhere in the Bible that a nation is in trouble when a lowly person becomes a king. In other words if you make a dunny cleaner the big boss of a corporation you are asking for trouble.

Jack Lang once said the reason the railways were run so badly is because the people at the top got there because they'd always worked for the railways. And what did the people at the top first do when they joined the railways? They cleaned engines, carriages and dunnies.

What would the great Jack Lang say of Landeryou today if he were alive?

What about dodgy accountants?

I have been checking out Dean Sheriff and it seems he has interests in the following companies -

PACIFIC INSIGHT PTY LTD
BRIGGS & STRATTON AUSTRALIA PTY. LIMITED
DOTMAR EPP PTY LTD
SCAN OPTICS PTY. LTD.
PALMER TECHNOLOGIES PTY LTD

Does anyone know what these dodgy companies do? How much money do they make etc?
